| TRI Sections |
TRI’s emphasis on adolescent substance use issues finds form primarily in the Section on Adolescents along with the Section on Law & Ethics. Translation of these and other research findings into helping products for parents is coordinated through the Section on Treatment Research Solutions. Studies targeting juvenile offenders with substance use disorders, and one of the first investigations into teenage access to rogue Internet pharmacies, are the result of TRI research. The organization also works with the Partnership for a Drug Free America to develop multi-media helping tools for parents trying to keep their children safe from drugs and alcohol. A partnership with the Betty Ford Institute, research arm of the renowned Betty Ford Center, has allowed TRI to explore parenting and other recovery-related issues confronted by addiction patients who themselves are parents. A brief intervention training tool for adolescent treatment counselors and college health officials was also developed by investigators in the Section on Adolescents. |
