Independence HallFounded by the same researchers who developed the Addiction Severity Index, TRI is an independent, nonprofit research and development organization dedicated to science-driven reform of treatment and policy in substance use.

ResearchTRI is one of the most acclaimed research groups in the nation in addiction and substance use, conducting state-of-the-science research to evaluate what works and why – for men, women, adolescents, offenders, and others whose substance use or abuse has compromised their lives.

Addiction to alcohol or other drugs is a chronically relapsing medical disease that cannot be cured but can be managed. TRI evaluates and adapts continuing care and other interventions to promote quality treatment and recovery oriented practices.

  Policy

Policy makers exert considerable influence over substance use programming. Through consultation, learning academies, and other venues, TRI helps policy makers advance quality through improved purchasing, standard-setting or other government activities.
