Clinical Trials Network Expedites Real-World Evaluation of University-Tested Medications, Treatments

Over the past 30 years, new medications and treatment strategies in substance abuse have been developed with federal research support. But many have never been tested outside the university-based settings where they were developed. The NIDA-supported National Drug Abuse Clinical Trials Network has linked addiction researchers with treatment providers to test, in community clinics, the effectiveness of these interventions in diverse treatment settings and with diverse patient populations, all under real-world, not laboratory conditions.
